Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving the following crimes:
On Tuesday July 17th at approximately 5:30 am, unknown persons broke into the Port Boat House storage facility in the 5000 block of Dunbar St and stole an outboard motor, fishing gear and marine electronics.
The unknown male suspects cut a hole in the perimeter fence to gain access to the locked compound. Once inside, the suspects boarded a boat stored on site and proceeded to remove a 25 HP outboard motor from the boat. The suspects also compromised the door latch entering the boat’s cabin and stole several thousand dollars’ worth of items, including high end fishing gear and marine electronics.
The suspects dragged the outboard motor across the compound to the opening in the fence. It is believed that the suspects also stole a large wheeled garbage can from a neighbouring business to transport the motor and other property away from the area. Most everything stolen from this boat should be marked with the letters "BCOSF".
Several boats and boat storage facilities have been targeted by thieves, some repeatedly, in the past few months. Police are seeking information on those responsible as well as those people dealing in stolen marine equipment and fishing gear. Video in the area suggests that an older model, grey or silver coloured Chevrolet pickup truck maybe associated to the thefts.
